Since a few months, I took a subscription to Salto, the French platform of series, movies and documentaries. I took my subscription when I discovered that they were going to broadcast in US +24 And Just Like That, the sequel of Sex and The City. And in the end, I also made some other nice discoveries! So I wanted to make a little “recap” article like the ones I do on Netflix, to give you my opinion on Salto and the programs I watch.
And Just Like That
Sex and the City has been one of my favorite series for years. So I was looking forward to the sequel!
The pitch : New chapter of the Sex and the City series, AND JUST LIKE THAT… is a Max Original series produced by Michael Patrick King. The series focuses on Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) who, after experiencing the throes of friendship when they were in their thirties, must, at over 50, face an even more difficult time.
I know that many people were disappointed with this sequel. Personally, I loved it! Seeing Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda again almost 20 years after the end of the series is like seeing old friends. Of course, they have changed but it’s a pleasure. Clearly, I was looking forward to seeing them every Friday. Carrie still looks great, Charlotte has had (too much) plastic surgery and Miranda… well, it’s Miranda! I loved it, it’s the kind of feel good series that feels great (especially right now). It’s obvious that this sequel will never surpass Sex and The City, but it’s a real pleasure to watch it. I hope to have a season 2 next year 😉
So here, we change completely the atmosphere, because we make a jump between the Exorcist and X-Files. And yet, I loved this series!
The pitch: A psychologist has to team up with a priest in training and a contractor to investigate supposed miracles, demonic possessions and other extraordinary events to see if there is a scientific explanation or if something really supernatural is at work .
I heard about this series on Twitter. As my boyfriend and I like this kind of atmosphere, we started to watch season 1 and we got hooked very quickly. Evil is a Salto exclusive. Season 2 is currently broadcasted at the rate of 2 new episodes per week. At a time when we are used to binge-watching a series on Netflix, it feels weird to have to wait a week to see the sequel! If you like psychological series, creepy but not very gory, this one is made for you.
You like English humor and a little bit absurd? Intelligence is made for you!
The pitch: In England, the GCHQ, a geekier and less sparkling version of MI5, aims to fight cybercrime all over the world. But when a pompous and reckless NSA agent comes from the U.S. to join the department, he teams up with an inexperienced and bumbling computer scientist. This unlikely duo threatens to disrupt the team’s ability to conduct its fight against the
A discovery made totally by chance on Salto, while looking for a quick series to watch, with short episodes. We find David Schwimmer (Ross, in Friends
), as an American agent who knows better than everyone else. Squeaky humor, often absurd and laughter at the appointment! In short, I loved watching this series.
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
The lost symbol by Dan Brown © MMXXI CBS Studios Inc, Imagine Tiger Television, LLC and Universal Television LLC. All Rights Reserved. The lost symbol on February 18, 2022 on Salto
I really like Dan Brown’s books. When I saw that the series The Lost Symbol was released on Salto, I quickly added it to my list!
The pitch :
The continuation of the first adventures of the famous Harvard symbologist, Robert Langdon, who must solve a series of puzzles when his mentor is kidnapped. The CIA forces him to join a task force where he discovers a plot.
The first season of this new series includes 10 episodes. And we are very quickly caught up in the adventures of Robert Langdon! I quickly found the atmosphere of Dan Brown’s books and I binge-watched the episodes, so much I wanted to see the continuation.
short, an exciting program, especially if you are passionate about investigations, symbols, etc.
The programs on my Salto list, to watch urgently!
Obviously, between Netflix, Canal + and other platforms, I don’t have as much time to watch series or programs on Salto. But I’ve already started to compose a small list. I will soon give you my opinion on the following programs:
- A very British Scandal (series)
The pitch: The
story of the divorce of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, one of the most notorious court cases of the 20th century. Famous for her charisma, beauty and style, Margaret, Duchess of Argyll, made headlines during her divorce. Marked by accusations of forgery, theft, violence, drug use, secret recording, bribery and an explicit Polaroid photo, the separation is in the spotlight of the 1960s British media.
Recently divorced Liza Miller, a forty-something woman, ends up getting a job by lying about her age, a secret she has a hard time keeping. Among the stars of the series, we find Hillary Duff.
- Navalny: the man Putin failed to kill (documentary)
exclusive interviews and archival footage, this documentary reconstructs the incredible story of Alexei Navalny, the charismatic leader of the Russian opposition, and the plot to kill him
- A million little things (series)
In Boston, friends are close before one of them commits suicide without explanation or clues. The team then realizes that secrets exist between them, despite their friendship. The mystery of their friend’s suicide hovers over them, causing them to question themselves while searching for the cause of the act.
